Summary

~Untersuchung der Wirkungen von Arzneimitteln und Verbindungen in Geweben, Zellen und subzellulären Präparaten, die von Tieren bzw. Menschen stammen. Tier- und Gewebeversuche zur Bestimmung der Wirkung neuer Wirkstoffsubstanzen unter Verwendung von In-vivo-, In-vitro- und Ex-vivo-Modellen auf Zellen, Gewebe und ganze Tiersysteme. Entwicklung von In-vivo- und In-vitro-Modellen für die Wirkstoffsuche und -profilierung; Untersuchung des Wirkungsmechanismus für Forschungsziele und Wirkstoffe.

~Forschungswissenschaftler II:
Führt Experimente und Verfahren durch, die die Kompetenz mit einem breiten Spektrum wissenschaftlicher oder technologischer Techniken demonstrieren; führt qualitativ hochwertige Experimente durch und liefert und interpretiert Daten mit Kollegen und / oder Projektteams.

~Forscher I:
Führt Experimente und Verfahren durch, die spezifische wissenschaftliche oder technische Kenntnisse und Labortechniken erfordern; liefert qualitativ hochwertige Daten, die sich auf die Arzneimittelentdeckung, Technologie und/oder frühe Entwicklungsprojekte auswirken.

About the Role

You will work on global projects using a wide range of in vivo and in vitro techniques while closely interacting with your lab head and colleagues. You will join the Global Oncology Drug Discovery group contributing to develop novel cancer therapeutics and bring innovative targets into our world leading Oncology portfolio. The position is based in Basel, Switzerland.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for working with rodents and a drive to perform in vivo oncology pharmacology studies including compound administration, micro-surgeries and preparation of samples for ex vivo analysis. Hands-on background performing small animal imaging modalities such as uCT, ultrasound and bioluminescence is a plus. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as an integral part of global projects and be an active member of lab and project teams.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


• Develop and characterize in vivo oncology models
• Design and perform in vivo PK/PD and efficacy studies to profile novel drug candidates
• Perform and/or support colleagues with various in vitro and ex vivo activities (e.g. cell culture, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, etc.)
• Independently search for information in scientific and technical literature and present your data within the team
 

What you will bring to the role:

• Vocational laboratory technician education (e.g. Apprentice) or BSc / MSc degree in pharmacology, bioengineering, biotechnology, molecular biology, or related field.

• Practical work experience in biomedical research from an industry or academic laboratory
• Experience in performing animal studies (animal handling, drug application, blood sampling, animal welfare regulations, small laboratory animal surgery)
• Good knowledge of standard molecular and cell biology techniques: cell culture, qRT-PCR, western blotting, etc.

• Well organized with a track record of delivering high-quality results

• The position requires excellent communication skills in English and the motivation to work independently within a global team


Desirable requirements:
 

• Certification for carrying out animal experiments (LTK module 1 or FELASA Cat. B)

• Knowledge of cancer biology and/or drug discovery
