Summary

Location: Basel, Switzerland

As a senior subject matter expert, lead sensitive, high-risk investigations in EMEA and other geographies as needed, representing the vanguard of Novartis’ Corporate Governance response to internal fraud, corruption and other alleged internal misconduct, including violation of company policies, improper conduct and regulatory violations involving employees, customers and/or affiliates.

Lead strategic projects to develop the investigative function, shaping professional standards and best practices, ensuring unified good-governance and consistency for objective, fair and independent investigations across the enterprise, driving high report quality across the function and helping to further develop the function as a best-in-class, trusted business partner. Deputize for the Head Global Security Investigations for the EMEA region.

About the Role

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead strategic and other sensitive, high-risk investigations of internal misconduct in the EMEA region and across the enterprise as needed
  • Support strategic projects
  • Influence and shape professional standards and best practices in investigations and beyond
  • As a senior subject matter expert, share expertise and best practices through a global program of investigations training and mentoring for Global Security and, in collaboration with the Speak-Up Office, for other functions who investigate local matters (Ethics, Risk & Compliance; Employee Relations)
  • Ensure unified good-governance and consistency for objective, fair and independent investigations across the enterprise
  • Drive high report quality across the function and refine output
  • Develop the function as a dependable business partner across a wide stakeholder group (e.g. Legal, Employee Relations, Ethics, Risk & Compliance)

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally gained in international security/fraud investigations field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in investigations in setting such as global security, corporate, legal, audit, law enforcement, military, security-consulting, compliance, finance, regulatory and cyber-crime.
  • Full proficiency in English is essential with a high standard of writing competence and storytelling skill required. Other region-specific languages, in particular German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Arabic are desirable.
  • A mature network within relevant agencies is ideal.
  • CFE/PCI or equivalent is preferred with international corporate experience advantageous.
  • Anti-bribery/corruption (ABAC/FCPA), forensic accounting investigation or audit experience in a corporate setting is desirable.
